Police station opens at Hitler's birthplace in bid to rid site of Nazi link

Core point

Austria has opened a police station in the house where Adolf Hitler was born in the town of Braunau am Inn. The building has been substantially refurbished to prevent it from becoming a site of neo-Nazi pilgrimage. The opening ceremony was attended by Interior Minister Gerhard Karner, who stated that the police station marks a new chapter for the site. The house was previously rented by the interior ministry to prevent extreme right-wing tourism.
