Hong Kong activist allowed to stay in UK after deportation threat
Core point
Former Hong Kong opposition leader Wu Chi-wai has been allowed to stay in the UK with his family for six months. He was initially detained at London's Heathrow Airport for nearly 10 hours upon arrival. Wu is one of the so-called Hong Kong 47, a group of pro-democracy leaders sentenced to jail after a national security trial. He was released in June after spending over five years in prison for subversion and other convictions.
